Miral invests AED 12 billion in Yas Island’s five-year transformation to elevate global leisure and entertainment offerings.

Miral has committed AED 12 billion to a five-year plan aimed at reshaping Yas Island into a premier global hub for entertainment and leisure. The funding will finance the development of fresh attractions, expand its existing theme park offerings, and increase hotel capacity by 30–35%, distinct from Abu Dhabi’s separate Disney initiative. This financial commitment follows a surge in visitor interest, with the island achieving a 92% hotel occupancy rate in August and seeing annual pass sales climb by 20% year-over-year, even amid constrained supply. International tourism, particularly from Russia and India, has been a key driver. India alone welcomed 1 million visitors in 2025, marking a 20–25% annual increase, thanks to strategic partnerships and focused marketing campaigns.

Yas Island’s strategic location bolsters its attractiveness, sitting adjacent to Zayed International Airport and Al Bateen Executive Airport, both just 30 minutes apart, simplifying travel for guests. The island already consolidates four theme parks and five museums within a 15-minute radius, providing both convenience and a wide range of experiences. The expansion will introduce new immersive attractions, enhance existing rides, and diversify the hotel portfolio, contributing to employment generation and skills development within Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector.
